Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble: This big band of advanced high school musicians from the region is based in Raleigh and is directed Dr. Gregg Gelb. In 2016 TYJE was selected to go to the finals in New York City in the national competition Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington Festival and earned second place. They also reached the finals in 2017. They are the first and only group from North Carolina selected for this honor.
